  • What definitions, key concepts, principles, or vocabulary do they need to know?

HOW (skill/cognition)

  • How should students carry out a process to demonstrate mastery of the objective?
  • What skills, steps, or mental processes are needed?

WHY (rationale)

  • Why does this concept or skill matter in the short term? Why does it matter in the long term?
  • What are the lasting understandings that will help students “connect the dots” between daily lesson objectives?
