Criteria For Success: Whole Group Discourse

  1. Protocol - There is a clear structure or protocol for how the discussion will run. The protocol creates a safe space for students to share diverse perspectives.
  2. Teacher Role- The teacher is merely a facilitator asking prompting questions; the cognitive lift is on students
  3. SSDS - Students are leveraging Social Studies Disciplinary Skills and evidence based responses in the discussion
  4. Leverages Students’ Funds of Knowledge - The discourse opportunity is planned around something that is informed by students experiences, identities, and funds of knowledge that they bring into the classroom.
