Art, E. (2017). Math Rules and Regularities Plan. New York, NY: Relay Graduate School of Education.
This lesson plan supports objective mastery because the teacher gives the student three different models of one strategy - counting on. The teacher then questions the student to draw out similarities across each of the models so that the student is able to articulate the key rule or concept that they were previously confused about. The teacher stamps the key understanding by restating the rule or concept before giving the student the opportunity to apply it to solve a series of practice problems.
