What are Open Educational Resources?

Open Educational Resources (OER) are freely available, openly licensed materials that are useful for teaching, learning, assessment, and research purposes. Open access scholarly literature is freely available online but, like all intellectual property, it still carries restrictive copyright and licensing barriers, albeit less restrictive than for profit or traditionally published works. For more information about open access materials, check out the links below!

Math Curriculum

Open Up: Math Curriculum (K-12)
Open Up Resources began as the K–12 OER Collaborative, a 13-state initiative to address quality gaps in the curriculum market. Explore three collections: K-5 Resources, 6-8 Resources, and High School Resources. Note: You will need to register as a teacher for free access, or use the family access.
UnboundEd: Math Curriculum (P-12)
These curriculum resources were created and shared by EngageNY. UnboundEd now hosts these resources offering a more user friendly interface and search. They offer a collection of standards aligned P-12 Math Curriculum.
Zearn Math (P-6)
Zearn is the top-rated math learning platform that helps kids explore concepts, discover meaning, and make sense of math. Currently the platform offers PK-6 grade materials. Best of all, it is free for teachers, always! Note: You will need to make a free account to access the resources.
Illustrative Mathematics (6-8)
IM 6–8 Math is a problem-based core curriculum rooted in content and practice standards to foster learning and achievement for all. Students learn by doing math, solving problems in mathematical and real-world contexts, and constructing arguments using precise language. Note: Relay students also have access to the teacher guides for free using their relay email addresses.

YouCubed (P-12)
YouCubed's mission is to inspire, educate and empower teachers of mathematics, transforming the latest research on maths into accessible and practical forms. Supported by the Stanford Graduate School of Education, this site offers individual activities (known as Tasks) and Week of Inspirational Maths (WIM) resources, which are free lessons and videos about math and mindset designed to inspire students.
Fishtank Learning: Math Curriculum (3-8)
Fishtank Learning's mission believes in helping teachers engage, challenge and inspire students with quality curriculum materials. The Fishtank curriculum is grounded in the best practices for teaching and learning, built around rigorous objectives, and is free! Math curriculum covers grades 3-8, Algebra I & II, and Geometry. Note: You will need to make a free account to access the resources.
Open Curriculum: Mathematics (K-12)
Open Curriculum's mission is to bring openness and innovation to K-12 curriculum around the world. They currently offer math curriculum with English and Science coming soon. They offer resources for grades K-12 including Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics & Probability. Note: a free account is not required to access the resources.
The Mathematics Assessment Project (P-12)
The Mathematics Assessment Project designs and develops well-engineered tools for formative and summative assessment that expose students’ mathematical knowledge and reasoning, helping teachers guide them towards improvement and monitor progress. The site includes: Formative Assessment Lessons, Summative Assessment Tasks, and Prototype Tests.
Radical Math (P-12)
RadicalMath empowers educators to address issues of social and racial justice in math classrooms through curriculum, lesson planning resources, and professional development opportunities.

Open Middle (P-12)
Open middle contains math problems for all grade levels. The problems generally require a higher Depth of Knowledge than most problems that assess procedural and conceptual understanding. They support the Common Core State Standards and provide students with opportunities for discussing their thinking.
